I am celebrating NAIDOC week by choosing to run my first marathon on behalf of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The aim of the foundation is to close the literacy gap in remote Indigenous communities by providing resources such as books and programs to those in need. My Dad was a children's book author and so the power of words had a profound affect on me as a child and still do to this day.
I believe it is not only essential in learning, growing and daily life but it promotes imagination, storytelling and allows us to create and articulate a world of our own. It also allows us to tell our story. It is incredibly important that we provide these remote Indigenous communities with the tools to not only survive but to revel in the joy of reading and write their own stories to pass down through the generations.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Indigenous Literacy Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
